Baix Llobregat promoted at FITUR Congress 2008

The ninth edition of FITUR Congress was held between 28 and 29 January at Madrid's trade fair centre, and was attended for the second time by the Baix Llobregat Tourist Board. This is considered one of the most important events in the business tourism sector, firmly established as one of the great annual gatherings of professionals within this tourist sector in Spain, and was attended by the Tourist Board with the aim of promoting and publicising the diverse potential of Baix Llobregat in this field.

With more than 200 international buyers companies present, FITUR Congress is viewed by tourism professionals as the most effective tool in internationalising their domestic offering in the area of business tourism.

Over the four days of the trade fair, the Tourist Board established contacts and held meetings with companies responsible for organising congresses, conventions and incentives trips from such countries as Germany, Brazil, Bulgaria, Denmark, the United States, the Russian Federation, the Netherlands, India, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Singapore, Sweden and China. The format used to present what Baix Llobregat has to offer involved a workshop with a pre-arranged schedule, a system which made it possible to present the district to the leading international buyers.

These companies were given the opportunity to discover all that the region has to offer in terms of accommodation, unique sites, conference centres and auditoria, restaurants, conference service and leisure companies, all of which were included in the Professional Meetings Guide, also produced in CD-ROM format.

The Tourist Board gives particular importance to its presence at such specialist trade fairs, as they represent a significant commercial platform from which to position Baix Llobregat within the international conventions tourism sector.
